General Information

Application for Water Service

All information contained on the application for water and sewer service will be verified.  Anyone providing fraudulent information will be subject to criminal prosecution.

  1. All payments for water disconnected for non-payment or bad check will be handled only during normal business hours:  Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  No after-hours reconnects.
  2. Reconnects will be handled between the hours of 3:00 and 5:00 in the
  3. There is a $30.00 service charge on all returned checks.
  4. No checks will be accepted on an account that has been disconnected for non-payment.

Convenience Charge

A 5% Convenience Charge will be added to the amount of your bill when making payment with a credit or debit card.

Disconnect Policy

All bills (including water, sewer and garbage service) must be paid by the 10th of every month.  If the bill is not paid by the 10th (or the first working day after the 10th if the 10th falls on the weekend or holiday) you will be charged a late fee of $5.00 or 10% of the bill amount, whichever is greater.  If the bill is not paid by the 18th of the month, you will be charged an additional $50 Non-Payment fee.  Any bill that is not paid by the 25th of the month will cause water service to be physically disconnected and you must pay the FULL balance which will include the delinquent month and the bill that was issued on the 20th of the month in order have your water service reconnected.  Partial payments on past due bills will not be accepted. Effective June 20, 2022


Please note, the Monroeville Water Works and Sewer Board only bills and collects for the garbage for the City. Each month, these charges are remitted to the City, therefore they do not promote the growth of the Monroeville Water Works and Sewer Board system.  Monroeville Water Works and Sewer Board relies on the revenue generated from the sale of water for its growth and receives no tax monies.

  • All new customers and account transfers need to go to City Hall to sign up for  Garbage Collection Services.
  • All garbage questions should be directed to City Clerk Tamekia T.R. Hunt at 251-575-2081 (www.monroevilleal.gov)
  • All sewer questions should be directed to Kendall Norris at 251-575-2617

About Your Bill

Each water meter is read one time per month.  If a reading appears to be excessive the meter is re-read before the account is billed.
